Another fabulous concert at Worth
Concerts at Worth are of a high standard and last Sunday provided another fabulous evening of music in the Abbey Church.
The Worth School Orchestra, Camerata and Choral Society gave a concert in aid of Outreach Peru which included Joseph Jongen’s magnificent and rarely performed Mass for Brass and Organ, plus Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino and a symphonic medley of songs from the celebrated musical ‘Wicked’.
Head Master Mr Stuart McPherson described the evening as, “One of the best concerts I have been to in my four-and-a-half years at Worth.”
The next concert in the Abbey Church will be on Sunday 15 March at 7.30pm when the Worth Choral Society will be singing the Mozart Requiem along with the Kidbrooke Park Singers. The other pieces in the programme from Worth Orchestra are: Mendelssohn, Violin Concerto 1st movement; Marquez, Danzon No. 2; Mahler, Adagietto from Symphony No. 5; and Brahms, Academic Festival Overture. Admission is free with a retiring collection for Outreach Peru.
