Worth Day
All the fun of the fair was had on Saturday (19th) at the Friends of Worth inaugural Worth Day, held on the First XI playing field.
Hundreds of families attended the event and enjoyed the many and varied attractions on offer, including dodgems, laser clay shooting and the chance to beat ‘The Stig’ on the Monza circuit at the F1 Racing Challenge.
Each House also hosted an attraction, from Farwell’s horizontal bungee to Butler’s gladiatorial jousting. After working up an appetite on the coconut shy and welly wanging competition, the hog roast, barbecue, Pimms and tea tents offered welcome refreshment.
Profits from the event will go towards the Worth 50 charities chosen by each house:
The other House charities chosen are:
Austin - The Chailey Heritage School, Sussex, educating children with complex learning difficulties
Butler - Crawley Open House, a charity that supports local homeless young people
Chapman - Lotus Childrens’ Home, an orphanage in Nepal
Farwell – Lepra, an international charity supporting leprosy sufferers
Gervase - Clock Tower Sanctuary, supporting young homeless people in Brighton
Rutherford - Build Africa
St Bede’s - Stella Louise Hostels, orphanages run by the Catholic Church in India
St Mary’s – Tarma School, Peru
