Thursday Worship and Family Mass
Participation in worship and prayer is not only part of the school's tradition but the means by which each individual comes to know more about themselves, the world in which they live and their relationship with God.
Thursday Worship
Thursday Worship is a weekly service which includes a joint act of worship involving the entire community. Mass is said every other week and other forms of worship are used on alternate weeks. The general style of Thursday Worship other than Mass, is based upon Vespers which forms part of the daily monastic office. Combined acts of worship enable monks, staff and students to worship God in spirit and in truth. Above all, worship at Worth celebrates and fosters membership of the body of Christ.
Family Mass
On the first Sunday of each term pupils, parents, staff and the monastic community gather together to celebrate Mass. Worth has a fine monastic liturgical tradition, a very gifted School Choir and pupils who are keen to participate. All of this, combined with the unique ambience of the Abbey Church, provides the school community with opportunities for reflection, prayer and the celebration of the eucharist.
Other special occastions for combined family worship include the school's Carol Service and the Lenten Service of Words and Music.
