Societies
Worth provides a growing range of Academic Societies which meet after school or at lunchtime.
Junior Societies meet on Mondays and this year included a Junior History Society, a Geography Society, a Junior German Society and Thinking Allowed.
Middle School Societies usually meet on Fridays and this year have included the Philosophy Society and Global Economy Society.
Sixth Form Societies include the Walter Monckton Society, which is organised by the Economics and Business Studies department, and the Stanton Society, which is the History Department’s senior society. The Religious Studies Department offers the ‘On Tap’ group. All these societies meet several times each term and invite high-profile speakers to address the Sixth Form.
There are also Societies which run across different year groups such as the Chess Club (main picture above, after winning the Wilson Cup), the Debating Society and the Toyota Solar-Powered Car Club (bottom righthand image).
There is a highly popular Worth Lecture Programme for senior pupils and a Worth Challenge Programme of presentations to scholars and those who are ‘able and interested’ students in Years 9 &10. Speakers from universities, national institutions and major charities have all been invited. For full Lecture programme details please click here.
There are various Sporting Societies:
badminton, soccer, basketball, Boxercise, Latin and ballroom dancing, running, fitness sessions, squash, cricket, tennis, table tennis, strength and conditioning, mixed netball and indoor hockey
