Worth celebrates best ever A Level results

Worth School students are celebrating outstanding results in both this year’s A level and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma examinations.  Overall an impressive 78% of all results were at grades A – B.

The school also recorded its highest ever percentage of A grades at A level, with a significant increase from 41% in 2006 to 48% this year.  A third of upper sixth A level students achieved three or more A grades and four students have places at Oxford and Cambridge.  Of particular note are Thomas Wood, who has won a choral scholarship and will read European and Middle Eastern Languages at Magdalen College, Oxford and Zheng Guo who gained 4 A grades and will read Computer Science at Trinity College, Cambridge.  Zheng has also been awarded an exhibition bursary by Cambridge to cover all his fees and his living costs.

Mr Gino Carminati, Head Master, said: “This year has been exceptional, with some excellent results.  The vast majority of our students are now looking forward to studying at leading British universities.”

These A level results complement the impressive International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma results achieved in July, when the school’s largest ever IB cohort enjoyed a pass rate of 100%, with an average score of 33.2 points.  81% of the grades awarded were at level 5, 6 or 7, which would equate to 81% A and B grades at A level.

"As well as the students’ high academic achievements, they have been great ambassadors for the school. Undoubtedly, the skills they have learned and the values instilled in them will mean that they will go on to be globally minded and successful members of society. We are very proud of them." said Mr Carminati.
